Roy Haynes on “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs,” 1967

A 3-page transcription of Roy Haynes’ accompaniment to Chick Corea’s piano solo on “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs” from the album “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs.” This transcription is notated on 9/8 to indicate that the majority of the performance is phrased with a triplet subdivision on most quarter notes, with brackets indicating passages that are phrased in straight-eighths. The vocabulary is very similar to that on the transcription of “Windows,” but getting it up to tempo is much more difficult compared to the former.
